History - I'm really interested in history, I have signed up to do an MA in History with the Open University starting October 2011. My particular interest is the history of railways and canals, although I'm also keen on the Romans.

Travel - I've been around a bit, both working and for leisure. I've been to every continent, including the big white one in the south. The Photo Gallery has some of my photographs from the various countries I have been to. I'll update them and add some captions as time goes by.

Gadgets - Just love the gadgets, my latest is an iPad.

Photography - I have enjoyed photography for many years, starting at the age of 7 with a Kodak instamatic! My first 35mm camera was a Kiev rangefinder, then I moved onto a Zenith E before starting a long association with Minolta cameras. I still have an X-500 and x-700. My current main camera is a Sony α-700, which means I can use all my Minolta lenses. I also have a Bronica ETRS medium format camera.

Radio - I have had a professional and personal interest in radio for many years. I started work as a transmitter engineer for the BBC in 1979 and moved onto various other radio related jobs, including planning part of the Orange cellular network in 1994 followed by cellular based work for Contactica all over the world. I'm a radio amateur and was a member of the Isle of Wight Raynet group when I lived on the island.

Charities and Clubs - I'm a supporter of Somerset County Cricket Club, the RNLI and Dog's Trust. I have also been a member of the West Somerset Railway Association almost from the start and I'm a shareholder of the West Somerset Railway.
